Woking YPod
Another Friday night comes around, and it's gig time once again. Tonight, This Years Dropouts and Ashes To Angels will both wow the crowd with their adrenaline fuelled shows, whilst slating Sinister Horizons for being a no show.
First up, This Years Dropouts. Their lively pop punk sound was perfectly together and well rehearsed, although the vast majority of the crowd seemed not to be into it as much as they could have been. Despite Ollie (Grant; Vocals) doing his best to get the crowd moving, they weren't having any of it, and stayed perfectly still. They seemed to be putting all of their effort into their show, yet the crowd wouldn't move. Although it was a small crowd, due to there being a Battle Of The Bands going on in Reading at the same time, when they came to play a cover of 1985 by Bowling For Soup, the room came to life. Any who held doubt as to this bands ability to play were blown away with the energetic and perfect cover.

Ashes To Angels were up next, a band I've been looking forward to seeing again for a long time, and I'm pleased to say, I was not disappointed. There is no doubt that these guys know what they're doing and that they love it. Crilly (Addams; Vocals/Guitar) works the crowd into a frenzy, getting all but a few moving. Leo (Farnon; Drums) plays with aggression, and speed, but keeps time perfectly, matched by Chris (Kiddier; Bass/Vocals) and Kai (Draven; Guitar/Vocals) leaping around either side of Crilly, never missing a note or an opportunity to solo. Their energy is unmatchable, as is their ability to play…It makes you wonder why on earth they haven't landed themselves a record deal yet…

But that, is a question for another day.
