Heatherside Community Centre
Heatherside Community Centre is a great venue for bands, the stage is big enough to allow bands to jump around, but small enough for it to still seem intimate with the crowd. The line up of tonight's gig was as follows:
(X) Against The Odd
(X) Bad Day?
(X) This Disaster
(X) The Rioteerz
(X) One Man Under
One Man Under opened the night with a mixture of covers and their own songs. Their blues inspired pop punk sound got what little of the crowd who were in the room dancing, although many seemed excitable as it was. In some places the vocals were drowned out by the guitars and drums, and in others they were overpoweringly loud. Despite this they played a good set and got the crowd going, ready for The Rioteerz to take the stage.

The Rioteerz...What is there to say about The Rioteerz, other than wow. They got on stage and were greeted almost instantly by chants and screams from their fans. They played a tight set with speed, passion and accuracy. Jacob Corr (Guitar/Vocals) proved his dedication to his band, their fans, and Killer Cake Records by playing, despite the fact his foot was in plaster.

Next up were This Disaster, a band I had never seen live before, but had heard so many good things about. I was expecting a good set from these guys, and they didn't disappoint. Everything about their set seemed together, and perfectly attuned. It's amazing to see a band as young as themselves playing with such talent and professionalism, a trend some big name bands don't even posses. Definitely a band to watch out for in the future.

Killer Cake Records' newest signings, Bad Day? took the stage next, a band we have all heard so much great stuff about, yet never seen live, and suffice to say, we were left without a shadow of a doubt that these guys know what they're doing, and they do it with intensity, energy and a passion a lot of bands lack these days. Every aspect of their live show is together and well practised, they work the crowd into a frenzy of jumping, moshing and screaming. Next time they're down south, make sure you go see them- You won't regret it!

The final band of the night, Against The Odd. Sadly I didn't really see much of their set due to being called away for an interview, but what little of it I did see was great. Even after dancing through the whole of Bad Day?'s set, a large number of the audience still had energy to mosh to ATO. Every time I see this band I wonder if they'll ever fail to please, and from the looks of it, the answer to that is no.

All in all, the best Killer Cake Records gig ever. Five amazing bands, with the most electric atmosphere imaginable. The energy from the crowd was insane, which encouraged the bands to put everything they had into their set, and it made it the best gig I have ever been to.
Don't just take my word for it, here's what other people had to say:
Jacob Corr-The Rioteerz
"F***ing awesome, the bands were great, crowd was hyped, electric atmosphere, by far my favourite gig so far. Even better than FTFC, We [The Rioteerz] are thinking of putting one of our own up there in the not-too-distant future. F***ing awesome."
Cheyenne Crease-Cabin Fever Radio
"The highlight of the night for most was Killer Cake Records' Scottish signings Bad Day? who, despite knowing virtually none of the audience, managed to rock the venue. Their energetic punk gave the crowd more than enough reason to dance, mosh, and have a good time; overall a 5* performance by a 5* band."
Gareth Varndell-Killer Cake Records
"The lucozade at Sainsbury's opposite the venue was bitterly overpriced which tainted what was by far the best Killer Cake Records Gig ever, we are really proud of our bands for putting on a good show and send out our thanks to the other bands for making this an amazing night"
Rhiannon Frape-Random Gig Go-er
"I loved every minute of the gig, all the bands were great , the atmosphere was insane everyone was supporting each other there was no rivalry everyone was just having a great time."
James D-This Disaster
"We really enjoyed our set, the atmosphere was great and lots of people we didn't know were jumping and moving by the end. Electric atmosphere. We thought the Rioteerz were especially good, but Against the Odd and the rest were also great. We are trying to organise ourselves another one, without drunken crazy ladies this time!"
Congrats Gareth && Harley!
