Whoever said punk was dead, was wrong. The Dirty Rotten Scoundrels prove that one time and time again, both with their live show and their recorded song. Their sets are full of energy and life. There's not much else you can say about them, other than they are punk, through and through. A band to look out for in the future.
When and why did you guys start playing together?
Well Me (Joel) and Rhys played together since year 7. We formed a few bands with a couple of bassists, and when our former bassist moved house, Sam filled in for us, and then we asked him to play.
Who are your main influences and how have they affected your playing style?
One of our main influences would be operation ivy, We like the way they write and perform fast songs with lots of energy in them.
If you could perform live or record with any famous musician/band, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
It would probably be Anti-Flag, because they are a really good punk band who knows how to put on a good show.
Where did you get the name 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' from?
I think we were just sitting around thinking of a name, and we wanted to go with something that sounded like the type of music we played: punk. There isn’t any meaning behind the name!
What has been your favourite venue/gig you've played to date and why?
Farnborough Town FC, 27th July. The gig went well and we played a fast and energetic set which got the crowd into our music, especially our song ‘Two faced liar’.
Explain briefly what the song 'Lives Were Walking' is about please [:
That song is basically about the media, and how it dictates how we think and feel about stuff.
What is the strangest/coolest thing a fan has ever thrown at you while you were on stage?
Nothing so far, but we’re expecting the first thing to be thrown at us is a punch!
Any final comments?
Cheers to everyone who comes to the shows and keeps the local music scene alive.
