**Just Because The Band Said It Doesn't Mean We Think The Same**

In my experience, people in bands have proved to be .. uh .. slightly odd .. to say the least, and talking to Ben (Colvill - Guitar/Vocals) from The Nova has not altered that opinion in the slightest. The Nova are a talented young band from Farnborough, with a great live performance and, as far as I've seen, are really cool guys. I asked Ben some questions over MSN, and this is what he had to say:
How long have you been together, and why did you start?
We've been together a year now (or just over), and we started because I was determined to split a band up and get its members to join my band (the nova), and in time THEY ALL JOINED! HAHA
Who are your main influences and how have they affected your playing style?
well, when we started I (Ben) was really into placebo and wanted the band to sound like them, but Jake was really into his MOD stuff such as The Jam and The Who, Woody was really into his McFly, and Dan was into his Iron maiden, so when we all got going we mixed 'em all in together and came out with the songs That was the Day, Jakes Song, Dirty Little Girl and Pictures and Screams
If you could perform live or record with any famous musician/band, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Well we all have different hero's, So I s'pose I would say Sum 41, jakes would probably be The Who or something like that, Woody's would be McFly for sure lol, and I reckon Dan's would be Linkin Park
What has been your favourite venue/gig you've played to date and why?
Well, not too sure, we've played a lot of venues, we've played Carling Academy, and various other places. But I suppose the new o2 arena would be cool, or Wembley. If all goes to plan we'll be playing at Berlin Festival next year!
Explain briefly what the song 'Nightmare' is about please :]
Ha-ha, good old Nightmare, well it was written as the main theme tune for a film called The Nightmare but the film never got into production. But that didn't stop us from playing it, we had to change the lyrics slightly but you get the feel of the song. And the film was about a nuclear war.
What is the strangest/coolest thing a fan has ever thrown at you while you were on stage?
Ha-ha well as of yet nothing =[. But I suppose if a fan threw a £1,000,000 record deal at us, that would be pretty cool =P
