1. When and why did you guys start playing together?
Johnny: We started about 4 years ago at high-school. We had common friends who got us together. We always wanted to be in a band, so we formed Indiependents.
Bill: And so the journey began...
2. What is the song “Last Night” about?
Johnny: Well, it is about leaving the town that you love the most including everyone that is close to you. We both live in Athens, so it's difficult to imagine ourselves living without all these lights, streets full of cars and the noise of the city. The city is part of us.
3. Who are you main influences and how have they affected your playing style?
Bill: Actually, we both listen to lots kinds of music so our influences are a lot...personally I love Johnny Cash and System of a down...but as you can realize SOAD couldn't have affected my playing style that much.
The drummer that has influenced me the most is Phil Collins.
Johnny: My favourite bands are Radiohead and Interpol. But I am also into The Smiths and Massive Attack. The artist that has affected me the most is Thom Yorke, he is really passionate for his music and his band.
4. If you could play any venue or festival in the world what would it be and why?
Johnny: Glastonbury for festival and Wembley as a venue.
Bill: I think that I would like to play wherever people would like to listen to our music.
5. If you could perform live or record with any musician or band dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Bill: As I told you before, I would really like to play with Johnny Cash and Pete Seeger.
Johnny: Playing with Radiohead or Coldplay and record with Brian Eno is really a dream for me.
6. Where do you see yourselves 5 years down the line?
Bill: As we are now, but with more fans!!!
Johnny: I hope we will stay together, becoming better and bigger as a band.
7. If you could start your own religion and write 3 commandments, what would the religion be called and what would the commandments be?
The religion would be called "Indiependence". And the three commandments would be:
a."Live in peace"
b."Don't let anyone to tell you what to do. Just follow your hearts"
c."Stay close to the people that count for you"
8. What have been the most memorable moments for you as a band so far, both good and band?
Johnny: The most memorable thing for me was when we were about to play in a local festival and the responsible told us that we have only 20 minutes to play, or they would cut the sound. It was really funny!!!
Bill: Yes! But when we finished an old man came to us and told us "where are you going? We just started dancing"! And we felt really nice.
9. Any final comments?
We would like to thank you for the interview, for the chance you gave us to express ourselves and our thoughts. Also, it is important to inform you that soon we will upload the finished versions of our songs, on myspace. We are currently recording them. Thanks again!
