September 29th 2007, The West End Centre, Aldershot. Her:Enemy's end of tour homecoming party. This was the first time I saw them live. The energy and skill with which they play is immense, everything has a perfect, well rehearsed tightness to it, without sounding uniform or boring. Their sound is unique, on stage they just can't stand still. Put all of this together, and it begs the question, why aren't they signed yet. Just one example of the many things wrong with the music industry today.
Where did you get the name 'Her:Enemy' from?
Ummm, I wrote a load of names on a piece of paper after reading bizarre magazine, the next day I looked at them and that one stood out.
If you could start your own religion and write 3 commandments, what would the religion be called and what would the commandments be?
I'm not a huge fan of religion it causes to many wars, so the first commandment would be no organised religion, the second would be find peace, the third treat people with resepct
If you could perform live or record with any famous musician, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
ohhhhh man, tough question, i think for me personally it would be freddy mercury, the guy was a legend.
If you could go back in time, what band/song/album would you erase from history?
none, because i think it all shapes up where we are today in the music industry, you have to learn from mistakes ha ha.
Finish the following statements:
o "You know you've made it when... your making a living"
o "It'll be time to pack up the gear for good when…i'm dead"
o "I'll never forget the first time I… played the Westy our hometown venue, I'd seen soo many bands there and it was this magical place to me so it was very special"
What do you think of the current state of UK radio and the live/local music scene?
S**t, and s**t. radio is rubbish, and the gig scene needs a boost, people need to go hear new stuff, go to gigs to enjoy them, not to look cool and trendy, get out, find a unsigned band you like and support them!
You recently went on a full UK tour; tell us a funny story from that. :)
Either being woken up by the police in Scotland, or the guy in Sheffield with no nipple, he was drunk or drugged up or something and asked us for change when we were packing up, he pulled his shirt up and where his nipple was this flap of skin was hanging down, he had a knife wound is his back but neither were bleeding, the police chased him and got him. I'll never know what happened to him, he was just 'that guy with no nipple'
What's the strangest/coolest thing a fan has ever thrown at you while you were on stage?
This band the audience has been good, I used to play in a punk band and we played this hardcore show in Cambridge and kids were spitting and throwing beer over us, but enjoying it, weird.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your natural life, which song would it be and why?
Probably at this moment in time 'machines' by Biffy Clyro, its so heart felt, but it will change next week.
If you could play any festival/concert/venue in the world, where would it be and why?
The Astoria in London and Reading Festival, because I've seen so many bands at both places it would be cool to grace those stages seeped in history.
If you could create the "ultimate super-group" with anyone from any band, dead or alive, who would you have in it?
Freddy Mercury, Slash, Simon Neil, Cliff Burton, Carl Palmer.
Any final comments?
ummmmmmmm come see us, ha ha
