Forgive me for I have not blogged in quite some time. The big news for the month is the Battle Of The Bands at Camberley Theatre. We're hiring the venue every Saturday night in August as a showcase for unsigned bands from Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.
The line-up keeps changing due to bands double-booking and singers contracting pig flu, but it should still be a great contest.
We're still confirming prizes, but the big one is a day's recording time at Slilent Hill studios for the winning band. We also have vouchers kindly donated by Stagebeat in Farnham, which will be awarded to the winning band of each heat. Also, for the overall winner, there is a pro photo shoot with Steve Orino. Check out the main BOTB page for details.
The venue has a licensed bar, and there are lots of pubs, clubs and eateries in the high street.
Usual gig rules apply, security will bag search on entry, no booze or drugs, arrive drunk and you won't get in.
Capacity is 500, less a bit of space for the mixing desk, so book online (http://www.camberleytheatre.biz/events/event.htm?mode=3&pk_events=2045) to guarantee entry. On the Pro music front, the "find" of the month is Tarot (http://www.myspace.com/tarot) - another Finnish band, featured courtesy of Sian. I listened to "Crows fly black", liked it so much I bought my own copy (we don't rip off music here) and I've also ordered the Live DVD - Undead Indeed. I'll review later, but it looks like another Scandanavian bargain - 2DVD and 2CDs for under £14.
I'll blog after each heat, and hopefully include some photos, Health and safety permitting.Keep it live!
